Expectations cause Pain

This is the 'Spiritual Diagrams by Sagar Sonker' section. You can browse the list of diagrams drawn by me on the right hand side of this page.

We consider ourselves to be this body i.e. "I am a man / woman", etc. Thus, we consider ourselves also to be the various roles that we play throughout the day i.e. "I am an engineer / employee / doctor / wife / husband / father / mother" etc.

This develops attachments (i.e. losing your true identity into something / someone else) towards the image that we have created about ourselves.

Attachments generate fear. To get rid of that fear and to fulfill ourselves, we start expecting from others. However, not everyone is capable of fulfilling our expectations. Whenever that image is threatened and we feel that it shakes or shatters due to someone else, we experience pain.

Expectations are never positive. Expectations are caused only due to attachments and are always negative in nature. No matter how much you set your expectations to be selfless, they will cause you pain in some form or the other. At least the thought "I had such selfless expectations, but still..." will cause you pain.

We are originally the drivers of this body. You are a soul, a point of light, residing in your body in the center of the forehead amidst the brain. You are not your body. Visit the Know Thyself section for more.
